The List

This is for Shawn...I asked him if he wanted me to make a wish list for my birthday gifts or let him by on his own. He didn't give too much of a response (trying to take a nap?) so I went ahead and did this. Here goes: (and believe it or not, there isn't really much that I want)

Baywatch on DVD (guilty pleasure), The Girls Next Door and Body By Jake Workout DVD, Ruby is my birthstone and I also like turquoise. That's it.

I am now searching for a fun and shockingly sparkly shirt to wear on my birthday. I think I have found two online that are at Express. I am going to go try them on payday.

Ohhh and I just now this instant thought of this: a couple's massage (as in a massage for both of us)....or if it would really kill him just me. Logan Raye in Columbia on Gervais Street is supposed to be good. There are also some places in town, although I'm not familar with them. Or if you are still at a loss as to what to give me, a few sessions with a personal trainer would be fabulous.

Coincidence?

I was raised Catholic. Catholic elementary school, mass, First Communion, Confirmation, marshmellow cream puff sandwiches on Fridays (because Catholics don't eat meat on Fridays), giving up something for Lent....For me childhood memories include all of the things I just mentioned. Growing up I would also eat Captain Wafers with Parmesean Cheese sprinkled on top with sweet tea on Fridays when my family would be abstaining from meat. A lot of Catholics will eat fish on Fridays, but not other meat, so there were plenty of Fridays when we ate fishsticks.

I enjoy astrology and reading my horoscope, but do so lightly. What I am saying is I guess I take it with a grain of salt. I don't read it daily and I don't think what an astrologer predicts in the newspaper will have much to do with my actual day. I do however find among my friends and people I meet that their personality and characteristics often match those discribed by astrologers for their particular sign. As for myself, I always agree with what I read about Cancers. I am emotional, loyal, love attention, can be difficult or crabby and have difficulty making big decisions. Cancer is a water sign and I love to be around water. I espcially love the ocean. Capricorn is supposed to understand Cancer and indeed two of the best friends I have ever had are Capricorns. Shawn is an Aries. They are supposed to be stubborn and he is very stubborn!

I find it interesting that these three celebrities that I really like and find beautiful and interesting (okay I know I'm such a dork, but I read a lot of US Weekly and love to watch E!) are all Cancers, just like me.

On a side note I think my filly Ruby would look just like Gisele if she were a person. Just go to an earlier post if you want to see the resemblance.

A word on Lindsay...I don't know what all is true and what isn't, but I read she has been in and out of rehab so I hope that she can come out of this rough time she is going through. I think she is a beautiful and talented actress and hope to see her in more films. For more gossip I would recommend here.

My Summer Routine

I have returned from vacation. I had an amazing time. The pics are on facebook and myspace. Since I have been back I have been working...a lot. Okay not a lot but 40 hours every week. You know how that goes, you work and then when you come home you are tired, you don't always want to work out or do your laundry. One thing I have learned in the short time I have been working (my first first real job was in 2001) is that you have to rest on your day(s) off. Even if you want to run around and have fun, it is important to rest so you will be recharged when you return to work.

Yesterday, which was Friday, I met my former roommate and good friend JT in Greenville. We had a delicious lunch and shopped. I have changed my ways and now I am thirty (I think PR already blogged about how I cancelled my hair appt. with Identity to get highlights to save $). I only bought two things. I bought an adorable pair of dressy shorts from Express. They are brown and for those of you who are familar with Express they are the editor cut. They fit me really really well and the best part is they were 50% off and only $20. Now that is a deal. I also bought a pair of light brown Rainbow flip flops. I don't love flip flops, I prefer heels or wedges because I think everyone walks better and looks better in them. I hated to spend that much on flip flops but they are so so comfortable and I have to wear comfortable shoes to walk around campus. I do tons and tons of walking around campus, which I love because it helps me keep my weight down.

Today I treated myself to a year subscription of InStyle magazine. I love it!! I hope I start getting it with the July issue, I don't want to wait!

Baywatch is out on DVD I just discovered. I really really want to go get seasons 1 and 2. I loved the series when it was on, but didn't get to watch it much. I want to rewatch it now that I am older.

I am looking forward to this week. I have a light work week ahead. Tomorrow I hostess in the restaurant, then I work Monday (which is the day the cavalier gets her satelite radio installed) then I am off Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and back to work on Friday. Not too bad. I have been asked to babysit possible Tuesday and Wednesday. I am not sure....$ is always good and babysitting is not the most strenuous job, but then I do like to get R & R on my days off. I think I will probably just wait and see if her mother asks me again. I know I want to spend some time with Shawn (and try a new recipe I found) and meet up with my friend PR.

For those of you that love the E! channel like I do, have you seen the new show Sunset Tan? It is so awful and Los Angeles tacky and I am so addicted to it. I like to unwind by watching TV that does not require much thought. I absolutely can't stand their show Katie and Peter. If you have never seen it, be glad. The cockney British accents are so irritating. I mean the show will grate on your nerves like nothing else.

Tonight: getting off at 11, changing my sheets, maybe finishing one of the two movies I have started watching and haven't finished and zzzzz's.

Happy Birthday, B!!!!!!

I hope your 30th is a great one and this is your best year ever! And that we get to meet soon. I really wanted to come with Joe tonight to the restaurant, but with it being vacation time for everyone I couldn't find anyone to cover my shift.

more big texas...

Photos circa 2005. Texas has Blue Bell ice cream and Dr. Pepper in the glass bottle sold at every gas station on every street corner. I think I only had two meals the whole time I was in Texas. The rest of the time I survived off of Blue Bell ice cream and Dr. Pepper out of a glass bottle (it just tastes better from a glass bottle). This reminds me I have got to get my great aunt's recipe for King Ranch Chicken and make it one night.

We can't wait to see the new comedy Knocked Up. It is supposed to be hilarious. Knocked Up is supposed to be a real hoot from what I have read in all the magazines. Also, we go see all the "date" type movies. In fact I just watched one today with my Mom and her friend. We watched The Breakup with Jennifer Anniston. I love that movie. I am hoping when I go get my hair highlighted on the 19th of this month my hair will turn out like Jennifer Anniston's.
Tuesday the satellite radio Shawn is getting me will be here. He is planning on installing it Tuesday AM. Yay!! I can already see myself rolling around town in my beloved cavalier with the windows down.....
A sidenote on me and Shawn: I just don't know what the future holds. This causes me a good bit of anxiety. Usually at night. When I would like to be sleeping. I am about to start looking into a prescription sleep aid. It's just that sometimes I have the feeling my true happiness lies in Texas....not really anything to do with him...or the relationship...I just love it there. I have a lot of family there. I feel very free when I am in Texas. There are probably a lot of job possibilities for me there.Austin is huge city and San Antonio is a touristy area with a lot of hotels. Also there is Dallas. And a million other places too. Padre Island. Texas really is huge. New Orleans or Savannah are also places I am interested in. As well as Florida and Hawaii. But mostly I am interested in Big Texas. Would he want to or be able to make a huge move like that? There are a lot of Outbacks in Texas. If there is a choice in my future, a choice between a relationship and taking a job somewhere, I'm not looking forward to the choice. Decisions......grownup decisions.....they can't be taken lightly. Big decisions are not usually fun to make.

I haven't felt like getting in a cat fight with anyone in a while, but I thought I would go ahead and post this anyways since it was cute. Barbie is great, isn't she?

This Weekend

my grandparents visited from San Angelo, TX. They moved to San Angelo about a year ago from San Diego. I have visited them in San Diego before and oh how I love California. They came in on Friday and spent their stay in the hotel where I work. Friday night we went out for dinner. They were tired from driving all day so they went back to the hotel for some rest after dinner. I wasn't ready to go home and was already all dressed up so I went to Outback and had a beer. Shawn came out and sat with me for few minutes. Then I went to Books-A-Million to buy the new W magazine. Then I hung out with a friend. Saturday morning my grandparents came over to my house and saw all the animals. Then we went for lunch at the Islander. After lunch we walked around Pendleton and took some pictures (will post them soon) and went into the Mercantile. I got a stamp while I was there. The stamp was a crab. I was born in July so my sign is cancer which is a crab so I have a lot of crab stuff. It's pretty cute. Saturday night I worked so my grandparents were on their own. They went to Target and Cracker Barrel. This morning I woke up and drove into town to meet them for breakfast. After breakfast they left to go the next leg of their trip which will be up to North Carolina. I had gotten used to them being here over the past few days so I was sad to see them go. They are just really really super. I gave my grandmother a little surcee (means surprise, but I'm not sure how to spell it). It was a little camel made out of jade. It was just like this picture of a Feng Shui Elephant only a camel. I wonder if the camel is Feng Shui also?? Feng Shui is something I am interested in learning more about.

savings plan

friday I met a good friend for lunch. We ate at The Islander in Pendleton, which is where I worked for several years. I had a bloody mary (my nerves were shot as I had not had the best day) and a MexiWrap with French Fries. Next we went to Wal-Mart so I could pick up a few things that I need for summer (sunscreen, magazines). While in Wal-Mart we browsed and I picked up several items that were not on my list. I picked up a beach towel and some $2 flip flops. We were approaching the cash registers and preparing the check out when my friend suddenly decided he diedn't need everything he was planning on buying. He booted out a pair of jeans and a few more items. I immediately decided that this would be a good idea for me too. I pitched the beach towel and flip flops. While they were not expensive (together they were about seven dollars) I decided that I have plenty of flip flops and already have a beach towel too. Plus in a desperate situation I can always use a bath towel, I mean beach towels are not that crucial. Once we got in the car I thought about our "last call" and deciding to put back the items we didn't really need. It is a genius plan. I always come out of Wal-Mart with extra items I seem to think I need. The temptation of overspending at Wal-Mart is so easy because everything is so inexpensive. I have decided I will do this from now on!!!
