Suprise!

Very late last night I found out I would be getting a suprise visitor today. Any guesses who? Prince Charming arrived in his carriage this afternoon to pick me up from the Colosieum after my last class let out. He arrived with BBQ too.

Busy Busy Busy

It has been a very long day today. The sad news is, every Wednesday and Thursday are going to be like this for me. It was a choice of taking seven classes at once and graduating in December or spreading seven classes out over two semesters and graduating in May of 2008. I love it here and have totally had a blast, but I'm also ready to get out of here so I opted for taking 21 hours. Today I went to four classes. Tomorrow I go to three classes and to work. Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays aren't bad for me though. And my office is closed weekends so I have every weekend to myself.
I did get a chance to do some stress relieving shopping today. I had to go to a store in the Vista to pick up a few things for school. While I was there I went to Cloud Nine Market, which is a neat little kitchen emporium/gift shop. My good friend Kita gave me a gift card to there for my birthday this summer. I have held onto the card because I haven't had a chance to use it until today. I got some really nice stuff. I got a cute pottery/ceramic dog bowl for Morgan (looking forward to having an apartment where she can live). It is yellow and says "Ms. Attitude". I also got some hand soap (I was soon to be out) and a yummy smelling Pacifica Soy Candle. The scent is Hawaiian Ruby Guava. Ruby like my horse, Hawaiian as in Shawn says he dosen't want a big in town wedding but a very small, private destination wedding.
I'm off now to do a workout in the gym. Meeting my good friend A there. If all goes according to planned I can meet her, have an intense hour long workout, come back, take a bath, review a few things for my classes tomorrow, and be in bed by 11:30 PM.

Things I Like...

I got online and read a blog I read everyday. The author is a bride to be and is registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Out of curiousity I looked up her registry. Good Stuff! I have to BB&B jersey sheets she registered for, in purple. They are very comfortable to sleep on and come with my highest recommendation. The registry list inspired me to look at some things I like and plan on having when I a) am a bride to be and register somewhere or b) get a job making a lot of money, say screw waiting on the engagement and buy what I want anyway. I also like the Rachael Ray cookbooks and dishes on the registry. LOVE Rachael Ray. I know her critics like the point out that she has never been to school and is not a trained chef. My response to this is: Have any of these people ever had to work with or take a class from a classicaly trained chef? Yeah. No day at the beach (although I am fond of the chefs here at USC). Here are the dishes I love. Nantucket Basket by Wedgewood. Silverware is Todd Hill by Kate Spade.

Check out these shorts! Hilarious or what?!

My New Place!

This is where I'm living this year. I finally have everything organized the way I like. I went to Target today and got a few things I needed, refrigerator magnets, a new pink alarm clock, thumb tacks, glue stick, LOTS of cleaning supplies. I bought Method brand in Pink Grapefruit scent. Smells yummy. You'll notice it's small, but like I mentioned in an earlier post, I have only seen my roommate like twice so I pretty much have it to myself. My bedroom is in an L shape, which is a little odd, but I'm not complaining! I'll probably go back to Target and get a floor lamp for the part of the L that has no window. It gets a little dark in that corner. I have my dresser and exercise ball over there and nothing else.

It's Never Too Early

to be thinking about Halloween. This year is my last college Halloween so I am doing it up right. Who knows what I'll be doing next year. Probably working some 9 to 5 job and not celebrating at all. I either want to be a Swiss Miss/Beer Garden Girl or Alice in Wonderland. I think my newly blonder hair will suit either of these costumes. I found these pics at a Halloween place on the web. I like the costumes, but definetly want to find ones that are similar but not as short. I don't like overly sexy Halloween costumes. Just because it's Halloween dosen't mean you should look like a tramp. Tramps aren't cute. The year I was working at Pitchers On The Lake in Clemson at Halloween I was a french maid. I borrowed my roommate Jessica's costume. She and I wore about the same size as far as clothes that aren't very fitted went (pj pants, t shirts...) so figured it would fit just fine. She is about as tall as I am. So I thought I had my costume all taken care of and didn't bother to try it on until about 30 minutes before I had to leave to go to work. So I try on the costume and it fits except it is so short you can just about see my hiney. Jessica's near my size but does not have the very long legs I do so it looked a lot different on her. Or should I say it looked at lot less trampy on her. I was in a panic as I now had no time to get a new costume and had to go to work dressed up. I ended up wearing my normal underwear, then two pairs on panty hose, then a pair of very very short black shorts on over all that and wearing that under the costume for modesty purposes. I was self conscious all night waiting tables. The tips werent' bad, but never again will I wear a too short Halloween costume. So, here are the ideas:

Shhhh

I just watched The Secret on youtube. It is basically about the power of thoughts (especially postive thinking) and the law of attraction. Now before you go saying that The Secret is a crock, I do believe there is something to the power of positive thinking. The Secret also advises if you want to lose weight, stop thinking of food as fattening and don't look at fat people. I take this with a grain of salt. What I mean is, I don't think I can lay in bed day after day ordering takeout but as long as I don't think fattening thoughts I'll never gain a pound. No, that is ridiculous. I do however, think that if you are already on a workout plan like I am this can help you a little. I changed my desktop on my computer to be Gisele and have not been thinking of food as chock full of calories like I usually do. While I was eating last night I tried to give my food as little thought as possible.

Today I am running a few errands (Wal-Mart and Office Max) and going to the gym or doing my workout video in my room.

I am still elated to be living where I am, w/ my own bedroom and a non-existent roommate (she is never ever here). I am bursting w/ anticipation about my beach trip this coming weekend. One of my best girl friends is coming down Friday night when she gets off work and Saturday we are heading to Myrtle Beach. We are spending the weekend and coming back on Monday, which is Labor Day.

A word about...

crocs. I can't stand them. I know it is not practical to wear stilettos everyday, but come on, comfort can't be that important. To me crocs are the ugliest shoes to ever be created. I don't understand people wearing them everywhere. In my opinion, it's just not appropriate. I have made a list of times when crocs ARE appropriate:

1. You are in the barn, cleaning out your horses' stall or giving your horse a bath
2. You are giving your dog a bath in the backyard or taking your dog outside to pumba/tiddly
3. You are weeding your garden
4. You work in a lab and no one ever sees you
5. You are a cook and wear them in the kitchen (but not out of the kitchen)

Times when Crocs are NOT appropriate
1. Anywhere on campus
2. Anywhere in public or where others might see you

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Hon!!

Today is one of my best friends 21st. I am off to shower and get ready and head over to her apartment. I feel like I can eat and drink guilt free (w/in reason) b/c I have done tons of walking around campus. I have had to walk over what feels like every inch of this campus in the last two days. Paying my tuition, going to class, going to my job, getting my ID reactivated...and none of these locations I have had to go to are easy to drive to so it has all been by foot. I also did my Girls Next Door Workout video today. I chose to workout to a video in my room b/c it is so miserably hot. Once I got inside my apartment I couldn't bear to go back outside to walk or drive to the gym. No way. Okay, have a wonderful and safe weekend!!

What Dreams May Come

Last night I had the strangest dream. I dreamt that my Mom was getting married. Let me explain that my Mom has been divorced twice and NEVER wants to take the plunge again. EVER w/ anyone. I may sound a little extreme here, but she really dosen't. This doesn't mean that she is angry or bitter. Not at all. I think she has a really good attitude about her two failed marriages. She thinks it is hard to be married, not evevyone should be married, marriage is nothing to take lightly and sort of has the "no regrets, just lessons learned" mindset. Without the first marriage I wouldn't exsist. With her second marriage I gained a wonderful step parent. Like it says in the Bible, everything does work for good. Good things have come out of both of the disasterous relationships. But back to my dream. In this dream not only was she getting married, my Mom was getting married to Scott Baio. You know, Chachi. It was so weird. Scott was in Anderson and had proposed to my Mom. I was my current age and in my current body but had emotionally mutated back to a 12 year old. I was 11 when we got my step dad and was not happy to recieve him. I was acting the exact same way I acted when we got my step dad, only as a 23 year old. Then I acted more like an adult and was trying to reason with my Mom and remind her that she never wants to get married again. She wasn't having any of it and Scott Baio was going to become my new step dad. At this point in the dream I woke up. Hmmmm...

Blondes DO Have more fun

As promised, here is a photo me the "new me". I love having blonde hair. My friend J pointed out to me that I am still not really blonde (this is after I joined the blonde groups on facebook), blonde is sort of a mindset and now I have it (and no I'm not talking about the offensive stereotypical ditziness people like to joke about). I will never be a bimbo! Blondes really do have more fun. I am speaking from experience. I have been a brunette of many shades and I am telling you, the men really do love blonde hair. That's not why I went blonde, however. Sometimes it's just fun to make a change, update your look.

It's Friday

Yay! It's Friday. I'm all moved in and I love my new room. I have tons of space and lots of privacy in my new apartment. I'll take some pics and post them soon. I have a bathtub and kitchen and then my own bedroom.
Here's some pics....me and Shawn...as children.
Here we have Shawn w/ a very 1970's backdrop.
Then Shawn at his birthday party. Notice the PacMan machine in the background.
The pics of me are from 1988.

Tying up some loose ends....

before I head back to school. I'll be going back tomorrow or Wednesday. The first day of classes is Thursday. This will also be my first day back at work. My last day at my summer job/internship was Saturday. So this will be my last semester of college! I am referring to it as my "victory lap". I am super excited about where I am living this semester. It is very very nice, only one roommate, a bathtub and my very own private bedroom. Between now and Thursday I am dong tons of laundry (and watching season 2 of Grey's Anatomy on DVD-and let me say WOW is it good!) and packing up. This afternoon I took my pet to the vet, gave the dogs a bath today (six out of nine that is), ran a few errands. Tonight: Dinner w/ Shawn. I am making a dish I love, zuchinni, tomato, chicken and pasta w/ lots of cheese. It's pretty amazing, I will brag.

For probably the first time in my life I am actually somewhat looking forward to fall. I am a person who worships summer. I mean I just love it and always have. However, this summer it has just been so hot. Too hot to work out without feeling like I am close to heart failure, too hot to do much with the horses....Fall will be welcome this year.

I put my resume on Monster...trying to be proactive and get something lined up for after graduation. I have already had some success w/ this. I went on a job interview last week in Greenville and got called back for a second interview. I have not called them back yet, but when I do it will most likely be to tell them that I am not interested. But, more on that later.

Exciting news: I am blonde!!! Okay, not all over, but highlights and I love them. If I had known how good they would have turned out I would have done this five years ago. Pictures of my new self are coming soon!

Now I am looking forward to Labor Day Weekend: a little beach trip with my good friend JR!
